Eight sailors were injured aboard the USS Eisenhower when an arresting cable snapped during an E-2C Hawkeye’s landing in March 2016.

USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier currently in service with the United States Navy.

According to WAVY, the Navy’s report says the root cause of the mishap was because three Eisenhower maintenance personnel didn’t follow procedural compliance when troubleshooting the arresting gear.

The Navy says the personnel missed at least one and possibly two critical steps.
